Bad Plus, June 9th

This coming Saturday evening, the Bad Plus will be appearing at the Miniaci Performing Arts Center at Nova University in south Florida. Would like to get some feedback from anyone who has seen this group.

I saw them a couple of years ago at the Blue Note, on a double bill with Jason Moran. I enjoyed them moderately; they were fine, but not anything great; some songs were more to my liking than others. I would see them again in the right circumstances. But I enjoyed Jason Moran and Bandwagon a lot more.

I've seen them on three or four occasions spread over a number of years during various UK tours and they have always put on a good show. One thing I have noticed about them though, is that live they play and sound very much like they do on their recordings and the fourth show was very much like the first...apart from the tune selection, obviously. So I guess if you're looking for surprises when you see them live you could be disappointed.
