OLD SCHOOL

'old school' is a term with endless meanings.

a visit to the mansfield public library herman room gave me 12 huge paperback volumes of prose and masterful photos from pre-1894, lovingly bound by dedicated local staffers and volunteers into a hard cover classic of perhaps the thickest paper i've seen, give us THE literal meaning.....

these local remarkable school building photos are a tiny facet of the ARTWORK RICHLAND AND CRAWFORD COUNTIES published 1894 by W.H. PARISH PUBLISHING.

No school like the old school.

it seems to me that education may have been held in higher esteem at the time. the school buildings were built similar to the churches.

the writings from the yearbooks and related high school musings of the time reveal, at least to me, a more formal writing and thinking style.
