alocispepraluger102 Posted September 20, 2012 Report Posted September 20, 2012 (edited) jamale davis-photos A NEW AND COMING PLAYER ON THE JAZZ SCENE IS BASSIST JAMALE DAVIS. last night i was an enthralled by an hour plus late night swinging offering by his group, featuring pithy relatively unknown to all but hardcore jazz fans, compositions by the likes of strayhorn, gryce, jackie mc, and dameron. he often uses a very swinging arco technigue, but his playing is clean and crisp. his group is very well dressed, classy, and would fit in any room. the knowledgeable audience loved the performance, and the applause got louder with each number. i would that mr. davis has had classical studies for many many years. there seems to be little of his work available on cd or online, as sideman with ned goold.
