When I was young,
I believed in Ents.
Living, talking trees,
who strode through the forrest
and minded and watched
and protected.

My sacred space
was an aging maple -
scared, ragged, bowed,
but not broken.

I felt the life,
the strength,
the endurance
in that tree
and
told it all my secrets..
