"NEW STAFF AT OTHER MINDS

Other Minds would like to congratulate Operations Director Michael Straus on his new position as Assistant Dean of Technology & Facilities at the Oberlin College Conservatory of Music. With his departure later this month, we are excited to announce two new employees to our staff.

Operations Coordinator Andrew Weathers is a composer and improviser from North Carolina, currently based in Oakland. He is a recent graduate of Mills College where he completed his MFA in Electronic Music. He has studied with Fred Frith, Roscoe Mitchell, John Bischoff and Eugene Chadbourne, among others. Weathers' work blends experimental, folk, and punk traditions and his most recent output is Andrew Weathers Ensemble's fourth album, What Happens When We Stop.

It was by chance that our new Executive Assistant Blaine Todd wandered into the cross hairs of Other Minds. Severely disoriented after attending a Cage concert at the SFMOMA, he wrote to OM and began interning last Fall 2012. Originally from San Diego, he migrated north to San Francisco where he earned a degree in English Literature at SFSU. Working outside the confines of the popular or academic mainstream, he immersed himself in the wildly unpopular undercurrent of the Bay Area’s noise, drone, and minimal experimental music scene. He currently plays as a solo musician, with Common Eider, King Eider, and John Krausbauer. "
