BERIGAN Posted July 8, 2013 Report Posted July 8, 2013 (edited) You're welcome I grabbed one the other day, and the price has come down a few cents since then...this is a newer edition, not the larger set that came out in the early 2000's Lady Day: The Complete Billie Holiday on Columbia - 1933-1944 (10 CDs) Edited July 8, 2013 by BERIGAN Quote
erwbol Posted July 8, 2013 Report Posted July 8, 2013 (edited) I bought the same thing in different packaging for €10 a few years back. They just repackaged the thing as one of those popmarket sets for a more money. Still a good deal compared to what the original set cost in the early 2000s. The sound is the same on all of these. BERIGAN Posted July 8, 2013 Author Report Posted July 8, 2013 I had the original set that I got cheap at Media Play when they were going out of business, but had to sell a few years later when I needed the money(and it was going for quite a bit at the time) I think one reviewer acted like this recent set was remastered , but I sure couldn't find any info saying that it was..... erwbol Posted July 8, 2013 Report Posted July 8, 2013 (edited) I read a few threads on that with contributions by our J.A.W. among others on the Hoffman board and the outcome was this set has the same mastering. My set does. The vocals are shrill on the earlier discs. There is a 4 CD set with only master takes from about 2007 with better mastering. I've yet to pick that up. I did download that set for comparison's sake and it does have better sound on the vocals. Edited July 8, 2013 by erwbol Quote
