Green Dolphin
Apparently JG is finishing off a new set for ECM...and it doesn't feature his longtime(and long in the tooth)roadband of Weber,Bruninghaus and Mazur. It's a trio set but the line-up is being kept under wraps. After raising the temperature a little on Vitous' "Universal Syncopations",maybe he'll be further exploring the freer side of his playing.Who would you like to see backing him?I'd go for fellow countrymen Haker-Flaten and Nilssen-Love,they should melt the ice! sal
I wouldn't be surprised if Jack DeJohnette was on the skins. They displayed excellent chemistry on "Universal Syncopations".
A Lark Ascending
Much as I love De Johnette I think Green Dolphin's suggestion from the Atomic rhythm section would really force him down different lines of thinking.
Green Dolphin
It may not be bass and drums at all...
pepe
In the meantime I'll recommend Finnish tenor player Juhani Aaltonen's trio recording "Mother Tongue". He's playing the way Garbarek hints at on Universal Syncs. Excellent CD.
