  1. I finally found a copy of Duke Ellington 1944-1945. My Ellington collection is now complete. I can now die easy.
  2. After comparing the track lists, I amend that to that the 10-CD box covers roughly the 1938 Vol. 2 album to the 1945-1946 album. I.e. 14 albums pared down to 10.
  3. Answering my own question, the 10-CD box seems to cover from about the 1939-1940 album to the 1945-1946 album. 646 1933-35 659 1935-36 666 1936-37 675 1937 687 1937 vol 2 700 1938 vol 1 Thanks!
  4. Which six albums exactly are in the Vol. 3 1933-1938 box set?
  5. I know this Ellington 10-CD box is also more or less a Classics rip-off. Does someone own it, and can clarify which Classics albums the box covers?
  6. I know there is a Cab Calloway 1949-1955 album in the series, but it is nowhere in the list. Does anybody have info on that album? What is the catalog number?
  7. "The webpage cannot be found" I tried searching the forum, but I can't figure out which thread you mean.
  8. And can I also download the artwork/booklet for the CD tray?
  9. Search as I might, I could only find 16 of the 45 Duke Ellington Classics albums. The search function isn't too good, though. Do you know where I can find the Classics albums? (Do they have them all?)
  10. The CDs are rapidly running out even at the legit sites. I live in a country where I cannot download legit MP3s from Amazon. So my only option left is unauthorized downloading. Does anybody know a site where I can find the Duke Ellington albums to download?
  11. I'd hereby like to correct my correction. It should be: 1282 Duke Ellington 1951 1320 Duke Ellington 1952 (There is no 1952 Vol. 2)
  12. Compiling check lists for myself, I noticed a few minor errors in the complete list on page 13. It should read: 533 Count Basie 1939 Vol. 2 700 Duke Ellington 1938 1018 Count Basie 1947 1282 Duke Ellington 1952
  13. I notice that box set collections have also been issued in the Classics series. Does anybody have information about which these are?
  14. Okay... So then what about the historical side of the matter: Why did the label drop out for a time? Did something happen to the original owner (Gilles Petard)? Anybody know?
  15. For years I've been wondering about what happened to the Classics label. When I finally reached the age and landed the kind of job that would allow me to start collecting the discs in a serious manner, the label suddenly seemed to have dropped off the face of the Earth. So I must say I was happy to find this thread when I trawled the net for info. Still, the links I find here don't offer very many titles. Is there any info on what will happen with all the old out-of-print issues? (I'm still missing one single CD to make my Fats Waller series complete.) Regards, - Knut
