  1. Thank you all - it went very well! It was recorded, so I can post a link to the audio at some point. Sorry not to have posted here about the Worksop gig as well - that whole Nottinghamshire library tour was great!
  2. I always post here too late - I read here but never think of posting! Anyway, if you're in the East Midlands I'm playing tomorrow. I've been commissioned by Derby Jazz to write a piece about the Orrery which appears in a painting by Joseph Wright. I'll be on vibes and conducting, with Dave Kane - bass Joshua Blackmore - drums Graham Clark - violin Tony Kofi - baritone saxophone Jan Kopinksi - tenor saxophone Deborah Jordan - voice Julian Siegel - bass clarinet Alex Suckling - trumpet Orrery will be played twice: first, as a promenade piece that uses the whole space in which the audience stands; and second as a more conventional set-up with chairs. Hope to see you there! C.
  3. Hello, In case anyone is in the U.K. and fancies a trip to Derby, Mat Maneri and Lucian Ban [known as DECO HEART] are currently touring Europe and will be hitting these shores in about a week. They're in London with Evan Parker at the Vortex on May 17th; then Newcastle on May 18th. They then come to Derby on May 19th at 6:30p.m. You can read more details and reserve a seat here. Also, trumpeter Nick Malcolm's quartet with Alexander Hawkins, Olie Brice and Mark Whitlam is heading here on its Jazz Services tour. As I'll be depping for Alex the next day in Bristol I'm sitting in. They'll reach here on May 31st, 8pm. Details/tickets here. All the best!
  4. Hello! Just to let whoever sees this know that I've got a gig in Leeds this Sunday with a couple of great musicians: bassist Dave Kane and pianist Alex Hawkins [who posts here]. The address: Seven Arts, 31A Harrogate Road, Leeds LS7 3PD It starts at 1.30pm and it's £5 or £4 to get in! All the details are here: http://www.coreymwamba.co.uk/gig/trio-1327843800 All the best, C.
  5. Yep. Set with Robert Mitchell, then (I think) an improv free-for-all. Dom's on it, too! 2pm. Then I'll park the contraption somewhere and we'll have "NUFF" jokes; and then in the evening get to the deep listening...
  6. Alex - you playing on the 19th Nov. at all? Unfortunately I won't be down into That London until the Saturday so I will miss your new band, which sounds amazing - but we both know what we have to do on Saturday. The Lit and Phil is a lovely venue, with great pianos. I think you'll like it there...
  7. EXCELLENT!! The trio is stopping over so we can all hang...
  8. Manchester's coming up in July - although the programme is still not out yet, I know I'm playing! Does anyone normally go to it?
  9. That's a great read. Didn't know he was ill, but it's great to hear he still has his "voice" and classic touch.
  10. Me too... but I have to say... it's tough at the moment... but we'll keep soldiering on!
  11. Hello, Not posted for a while but I thought I'd let anyone who's interested know that I have a new sextet and we're going on a small tour. The group is called Heralds and consists of: saxophonist Ntshuks Bonga trumpeter Alex Bonney, clarinettist Arun Ghosh, bassist Dave Kane, drummer Josh Blackmore, and me on vibes. Our dates: Tue 18th Jan, 6:30pm CUBE at Deda, Chapel Street Derby DE1 3GU £10/£5 Thu 20th Jan, 8:30pm The Spin Off @ Bar Santiago, Grand Arcade, Leeds LS1 6PG £6 Tue 25th Jan, 8:30pm SCHMAZZ @ The Cluny, 36 Lime Street, Newcastle upon Tyne NE1 2PQ £7/£5/£3 If there's any chance anyone makes it to any of these, come say hello! All the best, C.
  12. Right - I think it's finished. I've been getting good feedback so far... so give it a look if you have time! It'd be nice to get other musicians seeing what they can do with it. It's now at http://www.coreymwamba.co.uk/musify/
  13. Cool! I was a bit ill, which is why I thought of doing it the first place - feverish dreams... I can't embed any in the forum [understandably] but it will embed in any pages you make... I have added formatting of time signature and slash chords now too. It is free to use non-commercially.
  14. Hello, I've written a very simple function to enable those who need to write chord sequences etc. on their webpages. It's not fool-proof, so it does need testing. Please take a look and let me know what you think! It's here: http://www.coreymwamba.co.uk/testbed/ Thanks, C.
