I think this one was my first LP of the Messengers. It was the RCA "Black and White" Series.

Really nice with Bill Hardman and Johnny Griffin, and the way how they played stuff like "I could have danced all that night" , otherwise rarely played by jazzmusicians…...

Agreed. And an interesting version of "Flowers for Albert" is also on a Henry Grimes CD I have, some live stuff from Finland from about 2005 when I saw them live: Henry Grimes, David Murray and Hamid Drake, wonderful !

And since we are talkin also about Sun Ra´s ESP record. And me talkin about Henry Grimes: A good suggest for listening is also Henry Grimes ESP album "The Call" with Perry Robertson and ....... ah....... a drummer I forgot his name.......

Agreed. I have the Finnish cd - excellent music.   For an odd version of Flowers try  the Skatalites with Murray.

Byrd's Eye View is particularly important to my listening.   Sixty odd years ago I had an Esquire EP with Hank's Other Tune on one side.   I was totally knocked out by Hank's composition, his playing and that of Byrd and the other participants.  I'd never heard these players before and I knew this music was for me.  So  this was my introduction to Mobley and hard bop.  Love it still.

A desert-island disc for this listener.

I've always enjoyed this one. Not keen on other things by this version of RTF.  This one best represents their live performances at Ronnie Scotts.

This one is so magical I almost try to listen to it sparingly. Thus, it's always a special day when it gets a spin.

    I know that feeling.
