alocispepraluger102
one of the things that i need to hear before i pass is a pipe organ (and vocal) arrangement of the symphony of sorrowful songs. how a vocalist could compete with a massive pipe organ would appear to present severe difficulties, however. i presume it is considered a neoclassical piece, so please forgive if offtopic. randyhersom
Not off topic. I love the piece, fully aware that there are many scoffers. Neoclassical has also been used to describe Prokofiev and is indeed a subgenre firmly within Classical Music. Elitists flame away! However neoromantic seems more accurate than neoclassical for Gorecki's third.
carnivore
Wonderful, intensely moving work...for me anyway. I see no reason to invent a label or pigeon-hole for Gorecki - like Duke he's sui generis. Try the third string quartet!
