WFIU's afternoon jazz program "Just You And Me"

10 posts in this topic

Hey all--wanted to encourage you to "like" the Facebook page for the weekday afternoon jazz program that I host on WFIU-Bloomington, called "Just You and Me."

https://www.facebook.com/wfiujustyouandme

It airs from 3:30-5 p.m. EST (you can stream the show live here: http://indianapublicmedia.org/radio/). On Mondays I highlight modern jazz artists and recent releases. Tuesdays focus on classic jazz artists and albums, Wednesdays feature live recordings and listener requests (via phone or e-mail) and Thursdays are devoted to Indiana jazz artists both past and present, as well as visiting performers. Founding host Joe Bourne, who did the show from 1984 to 2011 (he was preceded by Michael Bourne, who left for WBGO, where he still hosts today) continues to host the Friday edition, featuring a wide-ranging mix of jazz, blues, rock and soul.

You can check out the show's playlists here:

I'll be featuring some music from David Weiss's new tribute to Wayne Shorter, Endangered Species, on Just You and Me this afternoon from 3:30 to 5 p.m. EST. It's "Live And By Request" day on the show, so if any Organissimo posters want to phone in a request around that time, just give me a call at 812-855-2087, and I'll see if I can get it on the air. (Between the CDs and the vinyl, we have a pretty good library here.) Link to listen online is here:

I'll up the thread right before broadcast. Here's the playlist for yesterday's show:

The format for the show is new music on Monday, classic jazz on Tuesday, live recordings and jazz requests on Wednesday, and Indiana jazz (past and present) on Thursday.
