  1. This is a treasure trove of great music in a variety of settings. While I have never been a big fan of those Verve string sessions, I really dig the excitement of those jam sessions with Diz, Benny Carter and Sweets Edison. I've listened to most of this set and its very satisfying. Mosaic has really done themselves proud with both the Mulligan and the Eldridge sets in 2003!

  2. From the Roy Eldridge page in the new Mosaic catalog:

"In collaboration with the Verve Music Group, the Eldridge set is expected to be available at retail sources OUTSIDE North America shortly after its initial November 2003 release. These sets are part of the limited edition of 7500."

  3. I rarely check over there anymore. Any time that I post, I usually get some mean-spirited,smart-assed reply and there is usually some pointless and vile argument going full tilt. I have enough aggrivation in my life right now without having to look for some more. This board is the place to be, even though Blue Note won't acknowlege us as an alternate board to theirs. Maybe that's a Plus too!

  4. I just caught the last of this program. Here's the hype from WGBH FM's site:

    Monday,Nov.10 -7 pm, WGBH 89.7

Host Eric Jackson features new limited-edition boxed sets from Mosaic Records, including those of Gerry Mulligan,Randy Weston,Paul Chambers and John Patton. THE COMPLETE VERVE GERRY MULLIGAN CONCERT BAND SESSIONS is the culmination of Mulligan's long search for the "perfect ensemble"that would bring his ideas to life. Over the course of 20 years, Mulligan gathered musicians for his Concert Jazz Band, which was lauded for the unique, pianoless arrangements featured in this collection.

Randy Weston, Paul Chambers and John Patton are other artists featured in box sets from Mosaic Select, a new series that focuses on numbered and often overlooked jazz recordings. These jazzmen may not be widely known, but the work of each has left its mark on jazz............

Join Eric Jackson as he explores these and other eagerly awaited Mosaic Records reissues.

---- This is a five hour plug for Mosaic and I hope it brings them many new orders and customers--- :tup

  5. I've come off 4 months of chemo therapy during which I lost most of my hair ---everywhere. I didn't have to shave in all that time. Now that the effects of the treatments are wearing off, I'm starting to sprout chin whiskers and even re-growing my moustache. I've been using the Mach 3 for the past couple years and have resumed using it. However I'll soon be starting radiation and they tell me I can't shave with a manual razor so looks like I'll be in the market for an electric job soon!

Any suggestions on a descent electric razor anyone? Not looking for anything exotic as after the radiation is through, I hope I can go back to the Gillette product.
