  1. and BTW, after speaking with cindy @ mosiac they have files a claim with DHL...

i guess maybe i should have all future orders delivered to my office (?).

    -e-

I've been in my new house for over three months now but I still have all deliveries made to the office. For a couple of reasons: 1) security - I have far fewer concerns now that I have my own place, but there is still a degree of risk with something sitting outside all day 2) I am at the office during the day when the delivery is made and can play whatever I get right out of the box. No waiting until the end of the day.

You forgot 3) I have time to plan exactly how I'm going to get this latest Mosaic box onto the shelves before the wife realizes it's here, reducing the chance of her noticing I've bought another one... :w

  2. Steven Bernstein

    Diaspora Blues

    — featuring the Sam Rivers Trio and Uri Caine

    — Painted Bride Art Center, 230 Vine St, Philadelphia

    Mar 5 (Sat) — 7 & 9 pm — $30 (members: $15)

    Alan,

Why can't you get them to make it 8 bucks for US?

    But it is!

$ 8 for the Sam Rivers Trio

    $ 7 for Steven Bernstein

    $ 5 for Uri Caine

$10 for being in an "Art Center"

    = $30 total ^_^

You must be the guy responsible for lowering the Wage Tax.

  3. Oh, I wasn't putting it in the worst category

    You make this post:

    Go, by the Dex

in a thread titled Worst Albums, which you started, so I assume you understand the premise. How is that not saying you consider GO one of the worst?:blink::wacko:

I didn't mean it as THE WORST. I stated Go, then explained why I never dug it. I guess I should of been more specific, and it's my bad. But, now you know. I dont think of it as one of THE WORST BN's.

See what kind of trouble you get into when you cut school for the day?

  4. It's not the size that matters, but the quality of your collection.  It's just so happens that I have a exceptional (and quite LARGE) collection.  My wife seems to enjoy it.  She brags to her friends all the time. B-)

Then maybe some of her friends also would like to enjoy your collection? ^_^

  5. Dude--don't mean to pry, but, shouldn't you be in school now?   Or is your birth year a typo?

    That is a good question.

JK, did you fake sick today? B-)

Today is mid term week. Today is the regents for 11 grade English. I have been off all week. I'll be in school on thrusday and friday for a half day. So now you can sleep at night! ;):P

We're keeping our collective eye on you.

  6. Yeah, but no one in Philly ever actually goes to New York (unless you’re a gigging musician).  Most of the people I knew and grew up with in Philly would froth at the mouth when I would tell them I was going to New York.  "Why you wanna go there?  We got everything we need right here….Pass me the ketchup for my cheesesteak Vinnie."

    Strong provincial attitudes prevail there.

I guess it depends on which crowd in Philly you hang out with. Having also lived in NYC, I know there are many people out in the boroughs who feel the same way about Manhattan and never set foot there, while there are many enlightened Philadelphians who appreciate what NYC has to offer. The problem I have with a lot of Philadelphians is that they don't appreciate what PHILLY has to offer.

  7. Easy ones, I'm sure.

Joseph Anthony Passalaqua = Joe Pass

Luigi Paulino Alfredo Francesco Antonio Balassoni = Louis Bellson

    Peter Ceragioli = Pete Jolly

    Pete Sims = Pete LaRoca

I already cited Louie above, but he's certainly worth mentioning more than once. :)

  8. I live one neighborhood over from Germantown, btw.

And Coltrane's Philadelphia house is in the Strawberry Mansion section of the city.

Alan, if you live in the neighborhood I think you do, then I live one neighborhood over from you.

BTW, to you and Hoppy, the Dec. 2004/Jan. 2005 issue of Tracks has a 2-page spread (132-133) about Philly music landmarks. FWIW, it says the neighborhood of Coltrane's house is Brewerytown, and not Strawbery Mansion. Either way, I'm sure the difference in boundaries is a matter of blocks.

  9. Home movies of Coltrane shoveling snow outside his house in Philadelphia in the late 1950's.

    WTF?

Actually, I think I would be most interested in the home movies. Things like that are wonderful.

As I indicated on another BB, I will be shoveling snow outside MY house in Philadelphia this weekend, and would be glad to make home video of it available for auction, in case anyone's interested.
