  1. I got it now. When all else fails, RTFM (read the first message). And thanks for sharing this. This is vast! As if I needed another reason to stay anchored to the computer...
  2. I must be doing something wrong. I registered yesterday totally unaware of anything new coming. All I get is the following message: Sorry, Gramofile is currently unavailable due to technical problems. We apologise for any inconvenience. EDIT: I think I was in the wrong place. I used Bev's link instead of going straight to the magazine's home page and clicking "Reviews"...
  3. I've been listening to these for a while on Napster. Finally made the plunge and purchased them:
  4. Pittsburgh Symphony performed Turangalila last season. It was thirty minutes of lecture (with some orchestral snippets), intermission, then the work itself. Some folks were put off by the format, but I'm not sure what else you could have programmed it with. Its style and length pretty much dominate.
  5. Once again, my apologies for posting this. eBay is hardly any sort of regular or profitable sideline for me. I typically start my auctions at one cent and my shipping covers just that -- shipping and maybe an envelope. As timing would have it, I had this auction up when I signed up for the board, and in my eagerness to post, thought I'd put it in front of some people here. I'd rather see someone here take it for a fair price, than have a dealer take it for next to nothing and put it on Amazon for $100 (I see that all the time). Also, I know it's a public auction, but I don't always have time to scour the search engines, so personally I like to see postings like this. I thought this particular disk was of broad enough appeal. In any case, and as a peace offering, the winning bid was $16.59 and I've donated that amount to the board.
  6. I'm still exploring the classical music world, and my tastes are all over the place, so I'm not ready to call myself an "enthusiast" of anything just yet. Still, I know what I like, and this doesn't seem out of character with what you're after here. It's high on my wish list. Are you familiar with Arnold Cooke? The Jabez and the Devil Suite is terrific.
  7. Sorry about that. Poor judgment and hardly the first impression I wanted to make here. Just trying to rotate some stuff (to make room for new stuff, of course). PS: Would have posted sooner, but I can't post from work for some reason. Bummer, but probably just as well...
  8. For Auction: Ike Quebec - Easy Living Out-of-print Blue Note CD. Hasn't yet been remastered. The 1962 sextet date also includes Stanley Turrentine, Sonny Clark and Art Blakey. Close to an hour of music. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=260209152808
  9. Paps, MG, 7/4... Thanks for the warm welcome. It's a nice place you keep here. Lon, I'm really sorry to hear about everything you've been going through, but all the same, it's good to see you here and in good spirits. Hang in there. I'm still trying to get my bearings around here; the interface is very different. But I'll adapt. After all, I'm an "IT guy" -- try to stop me! (Please.)
  10. Hi there! Stravinsky? Same as last time -- busy (de)composing. Seriously, I'm waiting anxiously for this to arrive from BMG: I'm trying to process some new Britten just now also. My son's voice teacher wants him to take a stab at Canticle II.
  11. Hello! I thought I'd play wallflower at the party next door. I miss conversation with some of those taking a break (hopefully that's all it is!) from AAJ. I'm trying to stay out of it all, but I see the this board has a classical music forum and some other bells and whistles (and Bev as of late), so I thought what the hell...
