  1. Hello Everyone,

I am going to buy a Kawai stage piano. An online retailer with the best price I have found who has the model I want in stock is Kraft Music. I believe they are from Wisconsin. Sweetwater has the same price but none in stock.

Has anyone here had any experience in working with Kraft?

Thanks a lot for your help.

I bought a Yamaha P120 from them a few years ago, along with a bunch of goodies. Everything arrived in fine shape for a great price. I would definitely recommend them.

  2. I like the Byrd/Gryce Jazz Workshop series on Lone Hill. Also, the Definitive packaging of the Chet Baker material makes a whole lot more sense than what EMI has done with it. EMI has not served us well recently on how they stretch that Baker Pacific Jazz material into as many CD's as they possible can, 20 minutes of music plus alternate versions. I will admit that the sound quality on the recent EMI Baker issues was stunning compared with what has been out there in the past. Proper does an amazing job in putting out intelligent sets - so many of them are the ultimate word in a given period for a given artist.

I just picked up new copies of the The Byrd-Grice Complete Jazz Lab Quintet (3 vols.) from a vendor on Amazon for about $7.50 per disc and have to say that although the liner notes are far from exhaustive, the music is great and the sound quality is very good. This is the only purchase I've made from Lone Hill, but it seems they did a very good job on this reissue.

  3. If anyone is interested, the deal is still good....

I too have been wishing I'd gotten in on it at the beginning. I, too, have a ton of soundboards and much of that run. But I just thought about all the jazz I could buy for $500-$700. I ended up getting the whole box, plus the bonus disc, via the Net on MP3, which I burned as conventional CDs. It kills me to think about what I'm missing sonically from a lossy format, but until I find a box cheap, it'll have to do. The discs sound OK, frankly, and I just wanted to hear the music.

  4. Wow, quick response to the member's request for the Basie booklet. I'm hoping I might luck out too.

I bought a used copy of Woody Herman's complete Capitol on Mosaic, but there was no booklet. I'd be happy to compensate someone for a xerox of the booklet, or to purchase an original. I'm an amateur DJ in a college town and would love to have the extra information from that booklet for my show.

    Thanks all,

    Corbin

  5. I purchased a new copy of the Revenant Charlie Patton box from Cargo Records in the UK. Order-to-door took a week, and it cost $77 total. Not as great as the Ebay $46 deal, but better than the $125 I see a lot.

No affiliation, just thought I'd pass it on. This set is everything they said it is: incredible music and museum-quality presentation.

  6. Okay, even though I've bought and sent out a bunch of these to board members at the ridiculously low price of $19.99, I walked into my local Newbury Comics and saw two of these boxes, brand spanking new, still shrink wrapped, marked down to $9.99.

That's right-- $9.99 for the entire set. :excited:

Now, I could try to make a profit on eBay, but that doesn't seem to be in the spirit of the season.

So, if you want it for that price, either check your local store or PM me and I'll pick them up and send them off to you for $9.99 plus shipping.

(They are listed as $19.99 on the Newbury website.)

***UPDATE*** The two copies are spoken for and I have two on a waiting list.

If they get in anymore I'll post again.

I just bought a used copy off the web a few weeks ago for $25, and for sure at that price it was worth it. This is a great box set.
