  14. It would be interesting to know an estimate of how many new releaes posters have actually heard? Seems that selecting ten favorites from a pool of one hundred new releases has a bit more weight than selecting ten from twenty?

    That's a good point. I would roughly guess that I've heard about 80 new releases in the last year, most of them through the radio station where I volunteer.

    As the year-end approaches, DJs and critics everywhere are busy drafting their Top Ten lists for 2010. KBCS programmers' lists will soon be posted on the station's website and mine will be among them. But I don't really like making a Top Ten list. There is just too much music out there that I haven't heard. I can't identify the "best" jazz releases of the year when I have heard only a fraction of what is out there. Even so, I have been blessed to discover so much good music that it is arbitrary to designate ten CDs as my favorites. I prefer to make a longer list.
