exactly! my old pal matt argues that the alarm clock should NOT be warm. he can believe the phone battery getting warm, ditto the surge protector if there's a lot plugged into it.....................the alarm clock baffles him.

swear to god, i'm losing my mind............but should alarm clocks, surge protectors, and cordless phones not NATURALLY be a little warm to the touch? perfecly normal, right? help me settle a bet with a friend. he claims NO, i claim YES. anything powered by electricity gets warm in those cases..........like hard drives do, tv's etc. ask cats, they love warm tv's. electric alarm clocks even have tiny vents on em.............! HOT stuff or HOT cords, i agree, is bad juju............

For me, one of the top ones is Jay Berliner "All Bananas Are Created Equal" Snagged it because it was a Mainstream LP, and I am a fan of that stuff.......judging by the cover, was afraid it would be at best nice background stuff..................WAS I WRONG! Quite a funky soulful session.............

ng gets beat up a lot for the horribly edited reruns, and the usually lame jack laird vignettes HOWEVER- there were some good stories all the way thru the end! examples: The Return of the Sorcerer The Girl with the Hungry Eyes Rare Objects The Other Way Out She'll Be Company for You Whisper Die Now, Pay Later

watching the pilot episode of the night gallery from the season 1 dvd set........segment one "the cemetery", with the great roddy macdowell and the legendary ossie davis! this show is criminally underappreciated imho, especially the pilot film, really atmospheric stuff...........not to sound cliche, but here goes- they don't make them like this anymore! hell, they can't! pretty baffling how an influential player like lee morgan has gone unsung in the sense of the written word, tho...............one of many!

......would be a great book............jazz messengers stories, blue note date stories, the later years, personal life, etc..........not nearly enough info on the man.............

For my money, Inner Urge seems to be the most inspired date I've heard that Mr Henderson did for BN.....And that's saying something considering the level of excellence of all his stuff from that period. Any other opinions on this? I'm on a Joe Henderson kick as of late...........

Just got "Many Shades of Blue" by Blue Mitchell, and it's really a great soul-jazz slice of funk! As a matter of fact, I have about 35 or so Mainstream LP's from about 71-75 I guess, and there isn't a bad one in the lot. Dave Hubbard's self-titled LP comes to mind right away, as does, let's see, the Reggie Moore stuff, Charles McPherson, John White...............Anyone out there dig this stuff?

Just sitting around the apartment, RELAXING after a hectic week....Spinning Getz Au Go Go ow for the first time in a while, Summertime is playing, some nice vibe work from Gary Burton............This is one of my very favorite Bossa Nova period records, just a really nice feel throughout, wonderful colorations in the music from Getz and company all the way around! And as for Ms Gilberto- WOW! Beautiful all the way around, what a voice! Oh, to have been there live 30+ years ago.....

there is musical saw on fats theus' "black out" i believe!
