  1. Hello. Not one piece of gear I own is the same or a redundant piece other than a few R2R decks. For turntables I own a belt drive, idler drive, and direct drive. Amps are the following tube types... 42, 45, ,46, 47, EL84, EL34, 2A3, 300B. I do not own a CD player (that I use anyway). I have two rooms and 4 sets of custom speakers and gear gets rotated depending on my mood and music on any given day. For me it’s much more than an old parts collection. I’ve waited up to almost a year for some of these pieces to be designed and built. I can swap any piece in or out in a few minutes. Ken Uesugi 42 type tube amp/DAC/pre
  2. Plain black Tubelab Simple Single Ended EL34 Amp triode wired single-ended amplifier designed by George Anderson. This amplifier has a beefier power supply than usually offered in the basic design and, Obbligato coupling caps, Kiwame and PRP resistors, and Transcendar Output transformers. It's not the prettiest amp but sounds very very good!
  3. I'd say about 70% vintage (For example the 47 type tubes in the walnut stand up amp pictured are NOS from the 1940's). I also use Emission Labs and PSVANE when I can get them in the type tube I'm seeking..
  4. REK-O-KUT Rondine Deluxe mono setup With Gray Research 208-S/16" arm and Fairchild 220-A cartridge for the mono LP’s.
  5. This combo has less than 40 hours on it. Audio Technica LP7 TT with an ATOC9XSl MC cartridge, Audio-Technica AT618 – Disc Stabilizer, FUNK FIRM Achromat 5mm – Platter Mat, IsoAcoustics OREA Indigo isolation feet, and an Audio-Technica AT-LH13/OCC Headshell. I also have a brand new (only three hours on it) Audio-Technica AT-MONO3/LP Mono Moving Coil Cartridge and new head shell I could include for an additional 150.00 for a great mono record setup also. 1,200.00 Price is net to me and I accept PayPal trusted friends and Zelle. My feedback speaks for itself when shipping delicate high end items such as turntables and tube amps. I have tons of feedback I can provide also.
  6. They offer a basic restoration which I believe is a full disassembly , rebuild of the motor , rebuild of the main bearing , new rubber mushroom mounts, acid bath cleaning of the linkages to remove the cadmium oxidation present on every TD124 (cadmium is toxic and causes cancer). They disassemble the linkages and acid wash to remove the loose oxidation then treat the metal to make it safe. i had the tonearm rewired and gone through slso. The chassis is painted (if needed in factory color or your choice) and polished to shine like new., and everything gets cleaned then reassembled /adjusted to factory specs. The result is a beautiful TD124 which is ready for another 60 years of operation. It also also went beyond the basic restoration and had the idler wheel and motor upgraded. There are other things like better platter etc than can be done. i think that’s about what I remember. Greg Metz owner at STS is great to work with and stands behind his work as he looked at the tonearm for again long after it had been in his shop at NO charge. He has a fast turnaround time usually also. https://www.classicthorens.com/service.html The Ortofon cartridge now has about five hours on it after a rebuild and retip from Andy Kim at needle clinic and I highly recommend him and his great work. http://www.phonocartridgeretipping.com/
  7. Going through some LP’s and found this gem. Dexter Gordon’s Doin’ Alright....sealed with original Woolco Dept Store receipt. 🙂
  8. Almost 10 years and 4 months and this thread is alive again.
  9. Hey Lon!!! I bet that setup sounds amazing. Steve makes great stuff!!
  10. Finally all together and in the system. Greg Metz STS modified Thorens TD124 MKII, rewired Ortofon RMG212 tonearm, with an Andy Kim Needle Clinic rebuilt and retipped Ortofon S15-T MC cartridge with a linear contact diamond tip, and aluminium cantilever. The Ray Brown Trio had the honor of first play.and it didn’t disappoint.
  11. Well well.... talk about a flashback. Here’s an update to what my setup looks like now. I can’t believe I found this thread after almost 15 years. Full room treatment has been complete for a while now. The fine detail, imagining, depth, and soundstage has went to another level that I have never experienced in this room in the 20 years since I built it. 50TB’s of High resolution files up to 512 DSD through modified Teac 501 with Time Machine X10 external clock, idler drive, belt drive, and direct drive turntables, Otari, Studer, and Teac reel to reel machines for 15ips master and safety copies-Radu Tarta preamp with 101d tubes selected-James Burgess 45, 46, 2a3, and 6bq5 type amplifiers -custom 104db efficient horn speakers with 2” Eliptrac 400 wooden horns, tweeters, crites cast woofers, and custom ALK crossovers. This system has real synergy and is sounding amazing.

  13. Well after a recent unforeseen seperation after 15 years here's what's left. The TT on the left is my dedicated 78 spinner a Rek-O-Kut 743 with a Ge arm and Ge cart, along with the homebrew amp and phono stage on the 3rd shelve down on the right. It feeds the single Klipsch Heresy in the center. The rest is my stereo gear wich is the MMF-5 going to the plinius Jarrah to the Bottlehead pre to the 6l6 amps to the Klipsch Chorus speakers. It's not what I had before but its a good 70% of what I had in sound quality for a lot less money.
  14. I'm proud to mention that every piece of gear in my setup was carefully picked from the used market. Nothing new. I'm not rich I just built it over time and saved tons of money.
  15. Night & Day by Charlie Parker on Clef Records 1955 I believe.

  20. The current setup in my music room is as follows: Modified 1983 Oiled Oak Klipschorns Custom KT66 monoblock tube amps loaded with 1950's Mullard tubes Decware ZTPRE flagship tube preamp VPI HW-19MKIV turntable with Origin live silver arm and Benz Micro L2 MC cartridge Plinius Jarrah phono stage 2 sonace 15 inch powered subs Room treatments are GIK Acoustics VPI 17 record cleaning machine. LAST record and stylus cleaning products. Heres a shot of the front wall. The Klipschorns are 20 ft apart. My room is roughly 22x20. The turntable on the right is a modified Music Hall MMF-5 that I use also. I also have many cd's but have not had a cd player in my main system for a while now. I have around 6000 records of all types. Here's a shot of my rear wall with around 3000 records. I'll be adding the same shelves to my side wall soon to finish bringing in the rest of my records. I'm also restoring various 1950's and 60's tube gear seen on top of the shelves.
