  1. There's a curious story behind that disc. Tete, Peer and Eric were scheduled to record a disc of Catalonian folksongs and Joan Manuel Serrat originals (which was finally called "Tete Montoliu Interpreta a Serrat"), but at the end of the evening, neither Eric nor Peer had arrived due to their engagement with another group at the Whisky Jazz club in Madrid. So Tete locked himself at the studio (Estudios Celada, Alcorcón, small town near Madrid) and played, almost without interruption, the first eight tracks. When Peer and Eric arrived, well passed midnight, they finished the disc with two traditional Catalonian songs. As they had time enough at the studio, they went into this ad lib improvisation that ended up as one of the most "out" (if that is possible with the always straight-ahead Tete) discs of his career. Thanks!!! And Son-of-a-Weizen, I'm happy the file came up at a good time, and best of luck with your project. Barry
  2. link to mp3 version: http://www.yousendit.com/download/WnBRY05uT2JJMHVGa1E9PQ. I found a similar performance of Yesterdays on Montoliu's "Lush Life" recording.

  4. I think it's Tete Montoliu on the basis of comparisons with his known versions of these tunes.
  5. Greetings, I don't know who the players are - I rec'd the soundfile from someone who didn't know either - It is a 30 minute track on which a piano trio play Yesterdays, My Old Flame and a slowish blues - there are several rubato piano solo moments - it's pno/bs/ds. I can get file out in some form - it is currently on a yousendit link, but if what I've written sounds even vaguely familiar to anyone, please let me know. Thanks, Barry
  6. I've been trying to find out who the original recording engineer(s) was/were for the three Miles Davis Nonet Capitol sessions (21 Jan/49, 22 Apr/49 and 9 Mar/50) - not the re-master people who came later. Anyone know, or know how to find out? Thanks, Barry
  7. I had a memorable experience with Keith Jarrett and Danny Fullerton one afternoon in a downstairs Newbury St. practice room at Berklee - I'm a pianist and was supposed to jam with Danny and a bassist who didn't show up (c. 1964?) - Alan Dawson came down and did a couple of tunes with me on pno and Danny on the bass that was there - later an unidentified young man came in and sat down at the piano - I picked up the bass (which I can't play) and Danny played drums - we did a version of I Believe in You (in Ab), after which the mysterious stranger left and Danny asked if I knew who it was - I didn't, tho of course I had heard about this Jarrett fellow. If I hadn't been struggling with the bass I might have been able to enjoy what he was doing!! Now I tell folks that I was, for a very short time, a member of the Keith Jarrett trio. Thanks for posting the Knowlton link! barry
