NOW I can say : "It is possible to swing with a harp !"
I've found Christine Lutz in France who just recorded an album with his quartet Harpiswing : www.harpiswing.com
UNBELIEVABLE !!!
Listen to this extract : http://download.yousendit.com/BCEEDC22025CD5BCv
The CD is not yet distributed (they need a distributor, so if you are interested... ;-)

Hello,
I'm looking for albums of trios with sax, piano and guitar only.
I know duos sax-guitar, piano-guitar and piano-sax, but nothing of trios saxophone, piano and guitar.
Thanks for your help

the sax player on the end is nathan "davis"Has anyone here seen him live in the last few years. He was in Paris last november and played fantastically.
His sound is maybe not as 'strong' as in the past but he is still a master...
Here is a photo of the concert at the Unesco in Paris last november :
Claus Reichstaller (tp), Maurice Brown (tp), Benny Golson (sax), Nathan David (sax)
Of course ! He is my friend !
(you can appreciate the proximity of the S and the D on the AZERTY keyboards...)

Hi Marcel,
Thanks for the information !
"Al Anthon" is in fact my friend ALAIN ANTONIETTO. He still has the original tapes and recorded many jams with René Thomas...
Only a few people know that this session have been recorded by Alain, the sound could have been better (and remastered) if Gambit had contacted Alain...
Do you have an adress for Gambit Records ?

Sorry, I overslept
So, I'm not the only one...

In Paris :

"Alcohol problems"?
Does this mean that he's gravely ill as a result of prolonged over-consumption or that he's crossed over to the dark side where your demons finally take over all the way?
He is not really ill, but he drinks too much, it makes him be ill-natured... He lives in the dark, never works his instrument, etc.
He has no more self-confidence and lost the motivation to play, but a few friends of mine visit him and play with him (after having cleaned the dust on the organ) !
Anyway Eddy is still the best in France !!!
-
I see no mentions of Eddy here !
He has a very personnal approach, and his style is easy to identify... He is not active any more in France, because of alcohol problems, but I hope to see him again on stage !
He started as a trumpet and piano player and first became famous singing with the Double Six of Paris.
Then he played with Kenny Clarke, René Thomas, Jean-Luc Ponty, Jimmy Gourley, Stéphane Grappelli, etc.
A few albums to recommend ?
- Eddy Louiss trio (CD Dreyfus Jazz) :
- Orgue vol.1 aka Bohemia After Dark (CD Gitanes Jazz/Universal Jazz France) :
- Orgue vol.2 (LP only) :
- HLP - Humair Louiss Ponty (various pressings availables) (CDs Dreyfus Jazz) :
-
Barbara Dennerlein is not really appreciated outside Germany.
In fact his playing is too mecanical... She has a fantastic foot playing, but one need sentimental feeling !!!

Hey everybody,
Last month I interviewed Siggi Loch, founder of the European jazz label ACT Music, for the anniversary of his label.
This interview is in English, and you can listen it on this page : http://www.radiocampusparis.org/?p=2991
