CD 1 Pieter-Jan Belder Harpsichord K520-K535
-
Gonna try to listen to all five this holiday weekend.
-
Premiere recordings of no.1, an early work dating from 1923, and no.2 which dates from 1937. The 3rd is from 1946. The two Krenek Toccata label CDs I just picked up feature superb sonics! A very realistic open and dynamic sound similar to some of the MDG recordings I've listened to.

Re: Schnittke The 3rd is a favorite. I have the BIS recording.

That 2nd symphony by Schnittke is some of the darkest stuff I've ever listened to. I play it a couple times a year.

This one is good:
Though I didn't care much for the Tan Dun.
I ordered the 2 disc vol 4.

Great live set of interesting compositions. Will have to explore some of the other
volumes in this series.

Not the only studio album since Thrak. There's 2003's The Power To Believe.

I opted for live recordings of the material on the 3 CD Heavy Construkction. Either way, the drum sounds are the deal breaker. But there are some excellent compositions, particularly the title track. The live set is now prohibitively expensive, so the studio album may be the only reasonable option.

I'd say Eyes Wide Open is pretty lyrical. That one, and Elektrik are my favorite tracks on The Power To Believe.
