  1. its 9 plus 2 on the short list (Crusaders and Wilson)....and the Gillespie when it hits Europe for a "Universal style price"

    Cheers, Tjobbe

Amazon.de (and WOM) reduced the price for this set: € 79,95. Is this what you mean with "Universal style price"?! I'll definitely order the set for this price.

    BTW, 80+ big boxes.

  2. 1.) Go to www.jpc.de

  3. To add something different than "great set" & "must buy"...... I had it and sold it because the playing of the Ellington band is very much below their standard (sloppy themes and missed notes, bad colectives, etc.). They must have been enjoying the riviera (with all the temptations available ie drugs, women, alcohol, etc.) but surely they didn't give their best performance wise.

The tracks issued orriginally by Verve (Soul Call if I'm correct) are good but the rest not so imo. There's enough Ellington out there which is much much better.

Agree! I had it and sold it too.

  4. My order showed up this week (I was away, so it greeted me upon my return!). Anyway, it was the full size Wes Montgomery and Bill Evans Riverside boxes -- booklet and all. Really such a steal at those prices.

I received the Montgomery and the Pepper/Galaxy box sets and I'm (again) totally confused. These ARE ZYX masterings in big boxes! On some of the CD's is "ZYX" or "Mikulski" engraved (around the hole).

"Mikulski" is a no-go normally. But the sound is okay.

  5. This is for Reinier (and all the other dutch football experts here too):

Hamburg win race for De Jong

Bundesliga title chasers Hamburger SV have continued to strengthen their squad, following Tuesday's loan signing of Ailton with the €1.5m capture of Nigel de Jong from AFC Ajax.

    Dutch exiles

The versatile Netherlands midfielder has agreed a three-and-a-half year deal (EDIT: That's wrong. He signed a 4 1/2 year contract!) with the UEFA Cup hopefuls, ending a four-year spell in the first team at the Amsterdam ArenA. The 21-year-old, whose contract was due to expire in July, joins a growing number of Dutch exiles at the AOL Arena, with fellow internationals Rafael van der Vaart and Khalid Boulahrouz already impressing with the Bundesliga outfit.

    Squad strengthening

Coming so soon after the arrival of Ailton, the move will send a clear message of intent to both Bundesliga leaders FC Bayern München and UEFA Cup Round of 32 opponents FC Thun. Meanwhile, the side that helped knock the Swiss team out of the UEFA Champions League, Ajax will go into their last-16 tie in that competition against FC Internazionale Milano shorn of a key player.
