A complete Pacific / Mastersounds would be great.

Max Roach Quintet (side A) & Sonny Rollins Trio (side B) - Graz 1963 ("Jazz connoisseur" live bootleg, made in Italy)
The Rollins trio date is brilliant.
-
Currently spinning: Barney Kessel - Breakfest at Tiffany's (reprise, stereo)
Not his best session as a leader.
-
Warne Marsh "Music for Prancing" original Mode mono . . .
Excellent music and a nice cover! I only have the CrissCross reissue.
-
An increasing number of classical and jazz reissues also sound bright and (too) loud, that's why I'm currently selling so many reissues from my collection; they're hurting my (admittedly aging) ears and I can't enjoy the music that way. I often prefer earlier CD issues of the same music, most of them sound pretty good to excellent on my system, not too loud and certainly not bright.
Very true. I'm selling lots of my CD collection out of the same reason. My CD collection is still shrinking while the vinyl part grows heavily ...

I'm fine with my Evans box. The sound is ok, at least on my nice player.
Maybe it depends whether ZYX is involved or not. My Evans set is "ZYX free"!
-
I received my Bill Evans - complete Riverside today. It IS the big box but the CDs were pressed in Germany.
I thought the bix boxes are only from the US?
-
It is again possible to order the Monk set via direct order number input.

Just a quick updater on 2001:
as suspected those Fantasy disc-set and individual OJC etc are now dropping in one by one...
Currently already available already:
Art Pepper 16CD Galaxy Set 50€
Monk Complete Riverside Set 50€
Wes M. complete Riverside Set 40€
some crappy 20Bit OJC for 3€, some regular remasters for 4€ and some 2CD sets for 5€
Cheers, Tjobbe
But these are the tiny ZYX boxes, ..... right?!

Happy birthday!!!

The complete recordings of The port of Harlem Jazzmen (MOSAIC MR1-108)
-
THIS IS GOOD NEWS ... indeed!
Thanks for the info Claude.
-
The FOUR FRESHMEN!
I got the MOSAIC box very cheap and bought it without any expectations. It is often said here: in small doses it's okay!
-
I'm starting 2006 with two of my favourites:
Joe Henderson - Page one
Milt Hinton - East coast jazz/5
-
Ein FROHES NEUES JAHR!!!
-
Hey Hans, what does 2006 feel like?
Happy birthday, Jazzshrink!!!
-
Sorry for misusing your thread: €6.99 for Chesky CDs is a good price too.
-
Well, that J J set falls right in there with what you like! I prefer it to the Stitt box myself. . . . More variety. Plus Elvin and Jaspar and Adderley (Nat). But the Stitt is a good set too.
I agree. Don't give The JJJ box out of your hands.

A relaxed 'after-hours' session: Joe Newman - Soft swingin' jazz (Coral)
-
Hopefully they'll also change the purchase value for the shipping rates! -_-
-
Herzlichen Glückwunsch zum Geburtstag!!!
-
...
At $44 per set, that's $14.67 (pretty close to $15)/CD.
Aren't the regular Mosaic CDs $18/CD?
$17/CD!

Revelation
4 (stereo) - Dennis Budimir/ A second coming
5 (stereo) - Gary Foster/Subconsciously

Another item on SESAC is the 1960 Billy Taylor Trio (with Henry Grimes and Ray Mosca) "Custom Taylored" which later came out on Riverside under the title "Warming Up" ...
...
Mike
On my SESAC copy of Custom taylored a short notice is printed on the back cover: This entire LP is available on Riverside Records - RLP 12-339
Does it mean Riverside released Warming up prior to Custom taylored (not later)? If so, why this additional release on SESAC???
BTW, I would never part with my SESAC copy. The thick cardboard cover looks very nice and the heavy vinyl sounds brilliant.
"Designed for repeated listening" is printed on the label. That's true!!!
Happy Birthday, clunky!
