  1. Thanks for posting those, Mark.  I always look forward to seeing your photographs, but they always make me regret not making the road trip to Chicago!

Maybe next Sunday -- Cedar Walton!

    Mark,

I'll actually be staying in Indy this coming weekend for the Indy Jazz Fest. Not a ton of jazz at the festival but enough to make things interesting. Cedar will be good, I'm sure. Benny Green follows him the next week. I'm sure we'll hook up again soon. Thanks for the kind words on my photos!

  2. Here are a few images from the Dewey Redman show in Chicago tonight. First time I'd seen Dewey and thought the show was ok. I know nothing about the sidemen and don't recall their names. The show lasted only 45 minutes, which sucked! Joe Segal gave Dewey some heat about that but he just said "oh well". I was a little "underwhelmed" but it was ok.

  3. These photos turned out pretty nice, huh?  I brought my camera with me.  But I didn't shoot any photos because I thought it was too dark to shoot at decent speed...

Yes, the lighting is not really good at the Jazz Kitchen. It's ok if you're watching but shooting is another matter. There are so many red lights, they just kill the color images so I switched to b/w after the first few images.

  4. Here are a few images from last nights show at the Jazz Kitchen in Indy. I didn't keep track of the set list but Jazz Messenger was there and may have. His bank included Deon Parson on drums, Gerald Cannon on bass and Larry Willis on piano. Nice show, lots of energy!

  5. I've been thinking of attending this free concert series for several years now. This might be the year I make it. I thought I'd share the proposed lineup with the rest of you. Also, I'd be interested in hearing people's opinions of the artists listed, especially the lowdown on the local acts from you natives.  ^_^
