Peter, I don't think I can make it, much as I'd like to, and so it goes. A Tula's outing is in order though if you're interested.
If Johnny shows up and embarrasses himself with a few too many please share pictures.

Is this an appropriate place to say "HI"? Late has on several occasions asked me to check in over here. Seems like a nice thing you guys have going here. I haven't been posting much anywhere, aside from infrequently at Jazz Corner and the occasional driveby over here in the media forum.
David Williams: email me if you have my address. I keep getting bounced with yours!

Hey folks. I conducted this interview a couple weeks ago with the electro-acoustic improv revolutionary. A warm, thoughtful person. Some interesting insight on the process of improvisation and contemporary influence. Enjoy.

Hey everyone. Lots of activity over here! Just wanted to point you to some recent updates over at Bagatellen:
- interview with Mat Maneri
- an essay that dissects large ensemble free improv and the role of the conductor
do drop by and say hello.

interesting discussion. Always cool to have Chuck around.
I'm inclined to agree with Green Dolphin in that holding Murray to the adventurous standards he set out for in his earlier days is wishful thinking. He certainly has some wonderful, exciting records including THE HILL and parts of SWEET LOVELY and A SANCTUARY WITHIN. The first couple of octet recordings with Olu Dara, Henry Threadgill, et al are sublime. Shifts in the lineup did the music harm, IMO, not that it ever got any more imaginitive. The recordings I've heard from the last few years do absolutely zilch for me, but that doesn't necessarily make him a sellout or a softy in my eyes. Seems like the guy's just doing what he wants to do for whoever and however. If that's where his heart is, so be it. I just won't be listening.

Hopefully the Beat Suite isn't just a repeat of Futurities, which would be hard to top anyway.
Poor Irene and all the disses. She never gets any love, even though she (by proxy) is an exceptional interpreter/deliverer of Lacy's music - particularly the poetic adaptations. Musically, she is a wonderful singer. Is it the tone that people don't like?

Joe Christmas driveby!
Hey folks. Just a cordial invitation to check out a new website (no, not another forum. Phew.)
Looks cool around here, B3-er. I hope to post something from time to time.

Can't say I ever cared about this one too much. I remember the heads as being pretty weak and Hank's solos predictable, but Higgins smoked. Fuller's uninspired here too, right? I'll play it tonight with some of the JD I *also* bought on Saturday and see if my memory can be curbed.
