It's directional information on the condition of the discs themselves, nothing more.

The Wes Montgomery box (#21) is a Riverside box, not a Mosaic.
Correct. Thanks for catching that.
Corrections made and availability updated.

Hey everybody, I've got a ton of box sets that I'd like to sell, and I thought I would bring them here to give you the first shot at them before going to eBay. The majority of them are in mint condition; if not, I've listed details as to why not. I haven't been very active on the board in recent years, so if you're not familiar with me and are worried about my trustworthiness, my eBay ID is slbrownhk. I have 100% positive feedback with over 200 transactions as a buyer and a seller, so buy with confidence.
Payment via PayPal only--no exceptions. The prices below include insured shipping to a US address. I am happy to ship to foreign addresses at additional actual cost. Since international shipments cannot be insured, I will only do this at the buyer's risk. Please PM me if you're interested or if you have any questions. Thanks!

Shall we post some unctuous compliments as questions to you the seller or should we just jump in and bid and run prices up some? We're flexible.
I'll take either. Both my ego and my bank account could use some stroking.

More SACDs, the Beatles mono box set and more went up last night.

Hey everybody, I'm back from the dead with a host of auctions on eBay. I'm trying to dig myself out of the pit of crass music consumerism I created for myself over the past decade, so please view my auctions, take advantage of my lack of self-control and find yourself a deal:
You can also search for my user ID on eBay: slbrownhk
I have tons of stuff up right now, including SACDs, DADs, CDs, the Neil Young Archives on Blu-ray, a Total BitHead headphone amp and more. More stuff will be coming soon as well. I'll also have 20-30 Mosaic and Mosaic Select sets coming in the near future. Feel free to PM me if there's a specific set you're looking for and we can discuss possibilities.
Feel free to PM me any questions. Enjoy!

I used to focus a lot on reissues because I feared things going OOP or having ridiculous prices if I waited. I abandoned that strategy 4-5 years ago after buying a ludicrous number of Mosaics that I never listened to. I always seemed to buy high and sell low. Sure, I could still make back a decent amount of money, but it just wasn't worth it.
I still have two or three dozen Mosaics gathering dust, a few of which haven't even gotten one CD's worth of attention.
These days, I just buy whatever I want to listen to most at the time. If I find cool stuff at retail (a rarity these days, considering my options), then I'll buy a ton of stuff at once. Otherwise, my spending is more measured and focused on exactly what I want.

I've spent the last few years primarily not listening to jazz, but was intrigued by the notice about the AP Blue Note SACDs I received from Acoustic Sounds, so I bought these:
Grant Green - Green Street
Grant Green - Idle Moments
Art Blakey - Moanin'
Kenny Burrell - Midnight Blue
I also bought the AP SACD of John Coltrane's "Coltrane". I've found all of these releases to be uniformly excellent, and exactly the kind of SACD releases I've been waiting for ever since I bought my first player some 7-8 years ago. They're very clear and very natural sounding, and have been a nice way for me to reconnect with jazz. I'll have to pick up more sometime.
I will say that I'd be a lot more interested in what AP's doing if they chose some Blue Note releases that were more "out", like Jackie McLean's mid-60's work, Grachan Moncur, etc. There doesn't appear to be any of that on the horizon, which is disappointing.

I've been on a Brazilian kick lately, so the little lady and I hit Fogo de Chao for dinner last night (our third Brazilian meal in as many weeks). Excellent food, but totally overpriced. Too bad Minneapolis doesn't have more options for churrasco.
-
Thanks, everybody (one month later). I haven't been around these parts much lately, so thanks for remembering.
-
I'm still looking for this set.
Somebody here offered it to me some time ago, but unfortunately I lost their PM. Perhaps they could contact me again.
I am he whom you seek. Unfortunately, I sold it about a month ago. Best of luck with your search.

Damn it.
Time to play "Unity." And here's another plug for "Vibes in Motion." I love vibes (hence the handle), and this is in my top five best vibes CDs. Ever.

Mrs. vibes and I took two weeks off and went on an 11-night cruise with stops in Italy, Greece and Turkey in the latter half of May. It was the first time I'd taken a vacation and not taken a computer or phone since 2001, and it was great. It was also our first cruise, and I really enjoyed it, despite the fact that we were less than half the age of the average passenger on the ship. I'm already thinking about where we should cruise next.
That was the longest vacation I'd ever taken, and I was so disconnected from my normal life that I started to forget I had a normal life. To me, that's the best kind of vacation.

Up, since I'm back in town.

Ha ha! I did it!
Not essential - we are dealing with luxury items, y'know - but kinda representative.
Larry Young - Groove Street - Prestige - 2/1962
Don Wilkerson - Elder Don - Blue Note - 5/1962
Gene Ammons - Bad Bossa Nova - Prestige - 9/1962

I tell you what - it was bloody hard to cut it down to only 100!

A little padding going on there, I see?
