The following are some CDs that I am very interested in obtaining by trade. In general, I am interested in TOCJs (in standard jewel cases; not JRVGs) (not just BN, but also Bethlehem, PJ, Roulette, etc.) and CDs in the VICJ Masters of Jazz series (20-bit K2 CDs in standard jewel cases). The following are some of my wants. I would be happy with many others. (In some cases, I may be interested in 2-for-1 or 3-for-2 trades; so please make me an offer that you consider fair.)

  2. Looking at the West Coast Pacific Jazz and other labels "mix" box they have upcoming with Cooper/Shank/Brookmeyer, how about a box of miscellaneous Imperial recordings, to include things like Charlie Mariano's release w/Jaki Byard on piano (which is quite excellent), Wingy stuff, and others? I know this bunch would probably be very disparate in approach, so if there's enough maybe do 2 sets, dividing them into "traditional" jazz and "modern" jazz Imperial sessions?

Some weeks ago, I sent in suggestions for Selects of Bill Perkins and Bob Brookmeyer. "MC" wrote back saying that they are considering a Brookmeyer set, and that he will add Perkins to their list. I also suggested a Mariano set, but did not get a response on that. I have a couple of Mariano recordings from Bethlehem, and really like them. And Mariano sounds great on the Chaloff set. I would also like a set (Select or regular set) of Artie Shaw's Gramercy 5 band.

  3. I have Ken McIntyre’s “The Complete United Artists Sessions” (Blue Note SBM, 2 CD set) for trade. I am generally looking for TOCJs (not JRVGs) in return. The following are some I’m eager to get in return. But I’d be happy with many others. (I would want 1 or 2 CDs in return, depending on what you have.) Please contact me at: ktoh@umich.edu.

Brooks, “The Waiting Game” (TOCJ 66075)

Farmer & Golson, “Meet the Jazztet” (MVCR 20054)

Giuffre, “Emphasis, Stuttgart 1961" (Hat Art)

Giuffre, “Flight, Bremen 1961" (Hat Art)

    Henderson, “Page One” (TOCJ)

    LaRoca, “Basra” (TOCJ)

    McLean, “Let Freedom Ring” (TOCJ)

    Morgan, “Delightfulee” (TOCJ)

    Morgan, “The Rajah” (TOCJ)

    Morgan, “The Procrastinator” (TOCJ)

    Parlan, “Speakin’ My Piece” (TOCJ)

    A. Ross, “Sings a Song with Mulligan” (TOCJ 6233)

Turrentine, “That’s Where It’s At” (TOCJ)

  4. I have Don Cherry, “Symphony for Improvisors” (Conn) that I would like to trade away. It has small scratches that do not affect play. I am generally looking for a TOCJ (not a JRVG) in return. The following are some I’m eager to get in return. But I’d be happy with many others. Please contact me at: ktoh@umich.edu.

Brooks, “The Waiting Game” (TOCJ 66075)

  5. I've just picked up Coleman's "This is Our Music". It was remastered in 2002 by a lable named Sepia Tone. Does anyone know much about this label? Is it going to release other Atlantic Colemans in the future? I would like to acquire his other Atlantics, but do not want to buy the 6 CD set, and also do not want to buy old versions of the CDs if new remastered ones will be coming out soon.
