Scott, you might want to edit the first post in this thread adding the blog's URL.
Thanks for the suggestion. I just made that update.

Still groovin' to Latin sounds:
CD compiles two LPs: Demasiado Caliente (Fantasy 8053) and Latino! (Fantasy 8079)
Tjader had one helluva band at this time. Mongo and Bobo together!
Plus "Chombo" Silva, José Lonzano, and the rest.

Bud Freeman - Satin Doll (All Life, 1980)

Oh. I didn't realize Analogue Productions had reissued those sessions too.
Many routes to the same destination!

Don’t overlook 1975 - The Duets, a terrific duo with Dave Brubeck. I love the spacey intro to “Koto Song.”
Yes! That! ^

That's the Artist House material that reverted back to Laurie, right? She is selling all of that material digitally on bandcamp: https://blueplatespecials.bandcamp.com/album/artists-house-sessions-complete
Yep. That's correct.
Also, for those who prefer vinyl (and don't have the originals), Omnivore reissued the music in a 4-LP set ... in November on Record Store Day:
https://omnivorerecordings.com/shop/promise-kept-lp/
It ain't cheap ($78.98), but the music is transcendent.
BTW: If you've got the Complete Galaxy box, you've already got this stuff.

Listening to this LP again:
Art Pepper - New York Album (Galaxy, rel. 1985)
with Hank Jones, Ron Carter, and Al FosterRecorded in 1979, this is "leftover" music from the John Snyder-produced So In Love sessions. Even though it was released posthumously, it's primo Pepper.

Yep!
And Sides C+D = Sax No End.

In terms of just a track, rather than the whole record, their version of Just Friends on Satori is really up there for me.
You'll get no argument from me on that. I think Satori is a masterpiece from start to finish.

Me too.
But this LP is my MOST favorite Konitz / Solal collaboration:
One of my desert-island discs, for sure.

A mix. I love Solal with Konitz (really love - some of my favourite tunes and albums) but I am otherwise allergic to him.
Interesting. I've noticed that many (most?) listeners have STRONG reactions to Solal's music. Very positive or very negative. Like super-strong coffee.
I suppose it's obvious that I think he's the bee's knees.
It sounds like you might be one of the few in the middle -- with a "Konitz clause."

I need to try it again. I wasn't that into it the first time I heard it.
Rab,
Is that your reaction to Solal in general? Or is it just this particular LP?
Just wondering.
