  1. Just got the CD/DVD.

It says the footage is from KING Of Burlesque (Twentieth Century Fox) and an animated cartoon of "Your Feets Too Big"

Alitte over 18 minutes total for the DVD.

    Tracks:

    Joint Is Jumpin'

    Ain't Misbehaving

    Honeysuckle Rose

    Your Feets Too Big

    I Got My Fingers Crossed

    cartoon (with Fats music)

    Your Feets Too Big

I've gotten the Glenn Miller and Artie Shaw CENTENNIAL COLLECTIONS too.

The Artie Shaw has some clips that were on other DVDs, but these clips had just a bit more and a better picture. Also there was a Artie interview. (when he was about 80 something)

The Glenn Miller DVD has some footage from the movie Sun Valley Serenade (which is available) and other historic films. (not available?)

Looking forward to getting the Ellington, Goodman, and Coleman Hawkins sets.

  2. You CAN hear free jazz on the radio. Every Sunday nite Monday morning, 11a.m. to 2 a.m. on KPFK 90.7 F.M., Los Angeles. On the web. The show is called "Rise." The host plays lots of Ornette Coleman, Art Ensemble of Chicago, Alice Coltrane, Archie Shepp, Nate Morgan, McCoy Tyner, John Coltrane, Horace Tapscott and more. Very highly recommended. No, I am NOT the host and have no affiliation to the station (a Pacifica station). The theme of the show is jazz music of a spiritual and somewhat political nature. It accomplishes its goal. Great show!

I assume you meant 11PM - 2AM (Sunday-Monday)? That would seem like a likely spot for it.

Thanks for the KPFK info. Good for them!

KKJZ doesn't has a time slot for it?

  3. Ordered a bunch of Verve LPR's today that I've been meaning to pick up for a while now. Got these from the Universal Music Store via EBay. That's a great source for these, by the way...the prices are good (got all these for $7-$8 each) and if you buy 4 or more, there's no shipping charge. So, here's what I got...

Stuff Smith - 'Cat On a Hot Fiddle'

    Ray Brown - 'Jazz Cello'

    Illinois Jacquet - 'Desert Winds'

    Johnny Griffin - 'JG'

Archie Shepp - 'The Cry Of My People'

    Archie Shepp - 'Attica Blues'

Roland Kirk - 'Live In Copenhagen'

Art Blakey - 'S Make It'

Jack Teagarden - 'Mis'ry And The Blues'

    Sonny Stitt - 'Personal Appearance'

All those for under $80. Not too bad... ^_^

  5. Big bad #8 will be in uniform opening day.  He better average 35 this year if he expects to make the Playoffs.  He better get used to other big men lighting us up as that gaping hole where #34 used to stand is now loosely occupied by Floppy Divac.

Other teams have won without Shaq.

Shaq sounds like the Olympic basketball team and Mike Tyson - all talk. His toe will be his downfall.

Does Miami even have a coach?

Shaq doesn't even have a contract after next year. What will someone pay him? He wants 30 million.

  6. Did you see the picture on ESPN of Bonds hitting his first home run, and now? There's no way he hasn't juiced, big time. I mean, we're supposed to believe that its entirely coincidental that his buddy runs an illegal doping company, everyone who used BALCO in other sports was doping, but no one in baseball was doping?

How stupid are we supposed to be?

These guys are juiced, but you still have to hit the ball.

There is some skill involved and you have to keep in shape.

See what happened to Big Mac.
