FINALLY! Here it is! 🎉 The graphic design is killer. Even the record sleeve itself is really cool. It included a reproduction of the poster from the original performance and the program with all of the notes in it and advertisers also from the original concert. Excellent work. Sounds fantastic too. Very happy

Of course at first I was thinking wow that’s cool people discovering jazz now because of a commercial. But then I remembered despite as long as this year has felt, there’s been years in the past that aren’t 2020 when this could’ve happened

How’d this become so popular? I enjoy it (clearly) but didn’t know it was so elusive or expensive!

I’ve been trying to find a copy of this on vinyl but available copies are waaaayyyy out of my budget. Plus, vintage record store rummaging is constantly futile for this album. I guess people don’t want to give up a good thing I have it on Apple Music and love it - but would also love it on vinyl. I found one list of upcoming Blue Note reissues but this wasn’t on the list. Does anyone know if this is slated for a rerelease anytime soon?

Mine is 45 mins away at UPS and they don’t do Saturday delivery in my area. Hopefully tomorrow!

Sad but true. And Amazon is having their own woes apparently too - everything I’ve ordered lately is taking 3-4 weeks to arrive.

Mine said it was going to ship tomorrow with a delivery date of October 21st. Uh. No thanks Amazon. So I canceled and ordered it from Target and it’ll be here by Monday at the latest.

Actually - no need to speculate. The official Monk Instagram page posted the reason. “There was some confusion about whether or not Thelonious Monk even had a record deal at the time of the recording,” which led to a time-out “while everything was worked out between different record companies and the Thelonious Monk estate,” explained Danny Scher” more here as well: https://datebook.sfchronicle.com/music/thelonious-monks-new-live-album-palo-alto-honors-the-day-the-jazz-legend-united-the-peninsula Now we know.

I keep checking Amazon here in the US but it still says that the product is unavailable. I don't think I've ever been so disappointed to not be able to get an album before! I hope whatever resolution appears to have been reached for the UK is also resolved in the US soon!

Any updates on this album? Or are we going to assume it's lost and gone forever -- or at least for the immediate future? I'm really bummed about this --- the two tracks I had were great! I've been tempted to see if someone that got ahold of it uploaded it online but I'd rather wait and pay.

The FYE chain is the vinyl listed for preorder available on Aug 7th, I think. CD says in stock. Such confusion!
