I'm not a big fan of the power trio, so I imagine that I have heard fewer recordings of this format than many of you.
That said, I've listened to CD 1 of this, and I think it is my favorite power trio recording ever.

This is a novel, apparently serialized in Black Mask Magazine in 1939. It reads like it was dictated rather than worked on, but it's pretty good.

Thanks! I ask because I saw the group at The Cellar Door when they were promoting that album. Cannonball, Nat, Joe Zawinul, Walter Booker and I think Roy McCurdy.
