  1. what are some albums(40s-70s) of other artists either than Miles Davis that resemble Kind of Blue in terms of the space it creates i the music?
  2. sorry for being vague, well all I can think of is Charles Minguss the black saint album where parts of it has a distinct sax sound where he holds a note for a long time screaming it out loudly. I really dont know how to explain it!
  3. can anyone recommend some amazing records or artists that I can find screaming trumpets and saxs but not to the point where its sqeaky and anoying?
  4. I listened to the song so flute by st germain and I absolutely loved the flute sound. It sounds very middle eastern. Im pretty sure its not a ney flute. It has a very harsh sound to it where you can even hear the person blowing almost like if they had no more breath left. Its hard to explain. Would anyone know what kind of flute this is and what are some artists that use it, its origins etc?
  5. Mc Duff is great, I love his record called SCREAMIN , anyone know any other organ record from another aritst similar to this one? I like it because it features the organ alone and most of the songs are very mellow 2/4 with very bluesy organ.
  6. thanks for the suggestions ! also what are some outstanding artists playing the NEY flute?

  8. I'm new to classical music also...I've loved Gorecki's 3rd symphony mainly the music and not the woman singing. Also I really love adagio for strings from Barber. I really enjoyed Gavin Bryars farewell to philosophy. Arvo Parts-tabla rasura is amazing aswell these are the perfect classical that fits my taste. I don't seem to like any other types of classical music except for the type that is very melancholic and dark that starts off slow and goes into a crescendo just like what I've mentioned. I dont want something too symphonic or orchestral with crazy time changes every 2 seconds. Just something that flows very well. Also if anyone knows the post/rock groups A SILVER MT ZION and RACHEL's they are 2 bands that play a sort of contemporary chamber music of their own if anyone has heard any which I mentioned can you recommend me something melancholic and moving that fits my liking??
  9. Ive recently discovered middle eastern music with Peter Gabriels album called Passion. I really like some of the tracks with the slow percussion work and the turkish flute. Im not too familiar with middle eastern music a lot of what I heard from it I did not like and I thought it was too new agey. Are their any really good artists around making some moody middle eastern music which is 100% instrumental? start me off!
  10. If anyone has heard Jack Mc Duffs record called screamin it has some really nice slow bluesy songs where the organ sounds very different more twangy if thats possible. Anyways, can you recommend an artist or record where the songs are very slow and bluesy and the organ is the main instrument being played throughout?
  11. can anyone recommend some spooky film noir jazz? either artists albums or soundtracks that you know of. Im talking along the lines of the Twin Peaks soundtrack, if anyone has heard it. Basically the kind of late night smokey downtempo obscure jazz!
