  1. I picked up two of these on Ebay...they feature Prestige sides from the late sixties and early seventies.

Excellent soul-jazz work. One is called "Tough N' Enough" (Prestige 10,000's) and the other "Good N' Groovy" (Prestige 7000's). Everyone you'd expect to be on it is, and the groove is non-stop. I'm not sure that you can buy these anymore, but if you can, try to grab 'em because they're oozing grease!!!!

  2. Easily my greatest find was the long OOP Larry Young Mosaic set in a used record store in Glendale, CA and it was priced at $35!!! Totally intact. Booklet. Box in fine shape. I scrutinized it to see if I was missing some massive flaw. Nope. It was used, but it was in fine condition.

Thing was, I already owned the Larry Young Mosaic! I had purchased it from someone on the old boards for the very reasonable price of $96.

So I bought it again and gave it to a friend for his birthday.

You're a great friend! He must be have been thrilled!

  3. Mercy, Mercy, Mercy by Cannonball Adderley, on Capitol.

This one SMOKES so many others and BURNS like a welding torch.

I must concur with Lon in this regard. This album is pure energy! In fact, I would venture a guess that I don't own a soul-jazz record that emits this much smoke when I listen to it. It starts a grease fire when it plays!

  4. Thanks, but I wasn't the one who started the poll, and I can say without a doubt that the person who did, doesn't need therapy.

You know, it's probably these types of posts that cause the most problems on this board since they're volatile in nature and cause people to act defensively. On the other hand, I respect your opinion, and won't pursue this matter any further since I'm tired of it as are many others.

  5. The issue at hand here is whether u.g.a. deliberately set up another account in order to deceive another member of this board. grey told u.g.a. way back when that he would not do business with him.

bandito, an account set up with the same IP address as u.g.a., was registered on Nov. 10th and PM'd grey concerning a CD for sale by grey in the Offering/Looking For forum.

u.g.a. claims that bandito is his cousin. I have no reason not to believe him. But I will say that if anyone sets up another alias on this board with the direct intention of deceiving someone else, they will be banned. That shit doesn't fly.

u.g.a., I'll give you the same suggestion I was going to give to jazzhound (before I deleted my post because I knew it wouldn't do any good and just feed the fire)... Get some thicker skin.

This is the internet. You've got a guy or two here that don't want to do business with you. Big deal. A lot of others have stood up for you.

I would take these past couple instances with grey and jazzhound if I were you as negative feedback on Ebay. I have two recently acquired negative feedbacks on Ebay out of over 160 positives. Are people wary of doing business with me now? Probably some are but I'm not going to worry about it.

I think all that needs to be said has been said. The whole thing stinks to me.

    Well said.

  6. Well, as the old adage goes...

One should never judge a person until they've walked a miles in their shoes! Let's see how you people would react if you were the subject of three entire posts that portrayed you in a negative connotation.

I'm pretty sure that you would be as upset as I am. As is stands, all that these posts represent are accusations that are not representative of the truth.

As far as grey goes...sure, there was an issue awhile back that occurred on the Blue Note board, but again that's no one's business! I've had problems with many people buying/trading with me on here, AAJ, and back on BNBB that were either resolved, or let die because it simply wasn't worth the hassle. The bottom line is that whatever problem he has/had with me, he should have resolved it with me! Instead, the man has chosen to bring back an issue that is probably a year and half old and make it everyone's business. How can I respond to that in a way that doesn't make me look guilty?!?!? After all, I'm already the focus of another assault by jazzhound in which many board members already question my credibility.

My decision to leave the board has nothing to do with the fact that I can't take what's being thrown my way by a few board members. Rather, it's because there's no enjoyment in coming here if all it's going to be is "Bash Allan" everyday. I come here to learn about jazz, ask questions, and maybe buy/sell a few things, but I need not waste my time if I have to constantly explain myself to people who certainly don't constitute a jury.

While I am thankful to many of you for helping me advance my knowledge of jazz, I can't help but think that it was all for not in light of the events of the last four days. This weekend has certainly left a sour taste in my mouth!
