  1. I've changed the thread title.
  2. I was listening to “Out to Lunch” on WKCR, the station has more on the way to pay homage to Horace this weekend. I had the pleasure to speak with him once between sets in the early 90s. He was truly such a nice human being. I asked some questions and he was happy to answer all of my quesitons. The world not only lost a great musican, but a great human being.
  3. I don't know.
  4. I wish I knew about this. I would have gone to this. Man, they are getting old. Long live Sonny and Ornette! https://twitter.com/sonnyrollins/status/477851119159619585/photo/1
  5. RIP Mr. Silver. Thanks for all the music.

  7. I chuckled at this. "Sold only 49,000 copies." I think most jazz artists would love to have sales of 49 thousand. LAS VEGAS (AP) — Jimmy Scott, a jazzman with an ethereal man-child voice who found success late in life with the Grammy-nominated album "All the Way," has died. He was 88. Scott died in his sleep Thursday at his Las Vegas home, said his wife, Jeanie Scott. He had battled health problems stemming from a genetic hormone deficiency and had been under the care of a home nurse, she said. His 1992 comeback album "All the Way" sold only 49,000 copies in the U.S. but earned him cult-like popularity in Europe and Asia, particularly Japan, where he often sold out performances. http://LAS VEGAS (AP) — Jimmy Scott, a jazzman with an ethereal man-child voice who found success late in life with the Grammy-nominated album "All the Way," has died. 12. Tonight there will be a jazz concert performed by the JALC orchestra at the Woodlawn Cemetery, to celebrate the 150 anniversary of the cemetery. The concert will be held within a short distance of where Duke Ellington is at rest. We once had a discussion this. I couldn’t locate that old thread. Anyway, those that I am aware of resting here are Duke, Pops, Miles, Jack McClean, Cootie Williams, Max Roach. Who else is resting here from the world of Jazz. http://www.amny.com/news/buried-in-new-york-resting-places-of-the-famous-1.8305324
