  1. A friend of mine who's not a member here was looking on and saw your post. He asked me to post this:

I found a copy via here:  http://www.cityhallrecords.com. - looks like there’s one copy left.
Also,  there is another variation from 1944, used, and for sale in Paris:

This new historical release presents both the vocal talents of Cab Calloway, the outrageous and flamboyant "King Of Hi-De-Ho", in some of his greatest numbers as well as several outstanding instrumental performances by his exciting big band and all star sextet. Digitally remastered with state of the art technology this release continues in the tradition of previous Mr. Music releases. The 20 are live performances from the mid 1940s and include We Cats Shall Hep You, Zanzi, Lamar's Boogie, The Duck Trot and many others.

  2. I bought a CD player in 1986, partly out of curiosity. I think that the first CD I bought was Duke Ellington: All Star Road Band. Around the same time, I picked up some Japanese Riverside and Prestige reissues - The Unique Thelonious Monk, Brilliant Corners, Sonny Rollins Plus 4. All of these sounded good back then and still do.
That said, there were some terrible sounding CD issues back then. I've gotten rid of those.
