In the past Blue Lake Public Radio produced programs on Coleman Hawkins's great recordings of the 1930's with Fletcher Henderson and Red Allen; his extensive catalog from the 1940's; appearances on record with "the boppers" and Max Roach's "Freedom Now Suite;" his partnership with trumpeter Roy Eldridge; and his versions of "Body and Soul." Tonight we'll try something different, taking another angle in to the great saxophonist's 50 year recording career, starting with the riot in the studio that is "The Big Reunion." Please tune in: 10 p.m. - 3 a.m. streaming from www.bluelake.org/radio . Hawkins music will be featured in the first 20 minutes of each hour.
Also, starting December 2nd you'll be able to hear the previous evening's Jazz From Blue Lake broadcast on-demand from our web site, www.bluelake.org/radio
Jazz From Blue Lake airs Monday night from 10 p.m. to 12 a.m.; Tuesday through Friday from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m.; Saturday morning from 7 to 10; and Sunday night from 7 to 10. That's eastern time, same as NYC.
