jazzhound Posted May 28, 2004 Report Posted May 28, 2004 (edited) This Roy Haynes cd is tops in sound and performance. Dave Holland is awesome. One of the best recorded jazz sessions audio wise that I have ever heard. Edited May 28, 2004 by jazzhound Quote
jacknife Posted May 29, 2004 Report Posted May 29, 2004 I agree, great cd! I was fortunate to see Roy Haynes Birds Of A Feather live. What a great show, I'd never guess Roy was in his upper 70's! He still had the energy of someone half his age and then some! Long Live Roy! Quote
gnhrtg Posted May 31, 2004 Report Posted May 31, 2004 Don't have the cd but have been meaning to get it for some (long) time. I, too, have seen them live when a local bass player had to sub for McBride as it was the day after Ray Brown's death. Anyway, I remember it was a great show, the most memorable performance being a Haynes/Garrett duo take on "My Little Suede Shoes". Quote
Brad Posted June 3, 2004 Report Posted June 3, 2004 Another from me on this one. He does have amazing energy and this group is really tight; giving Bird a new twist, but not straying too far away. Quote
RainyDay Posted June 3, 2004 Report Posted June 3, 2004 (edited) I have this one too and like it a lot. I've seen Haynes at Yoshi's and he is still incredible. Missed the Birds of a Feather tour when it was here. Edited June 3, 2004 by RainyDay Quote
