jazzhound Posted May 8, 2003 Report Posted May 8, 2003 Being that the original pressings of Waltz for Debbie and the followup album cost big bucks, turntable owners would be well advised to pick up the double album on Milestone pressed in 1973. It goes for ten bucks mint and is the next best thing to the originals. (the Orpheum pressings are bad and well as well as the audiophile stuff with the jazzed up top end.) I roll off a little treble on my solid state mid fi set up and I am there! Also the Getz/Evans double album second pressing I believe was mastered by bob Ludwig and is also great. Quote
AfricaBrass Posted May 8, 2003 Report Posted May 8, 2003 (edited) I really dig those old Fantasy two-fers. I've try to pick up all that I can. One of my favorite jazz lp bargains are the Pablo lps. I don't know a lot about audiophile stuff, but I have picked up some very nice Pablo pressings for a couple bucks. I really like all the Art Tatum lps they released. The Evans is a great deal. That two-fer was the first Bill Evans I ever bought. :rsmile: Edited May 8, 2003 by AfricaBrass Quote
Son-of-a-Weizen Posted May 10, 2003 Report Posted May 10, 2003 First Evans vinyl I ever purchased was that other Milestone two-fer from '82 called "The 'Interplay' Sessions"....with the Zoot Sims session and all ("Loose Bloose", etc...). Great stuff! Quote
