.....when you are pre-ordering items? If they don't all come out on the same day, you can't choose the "ship together" option, you have to do "ship as availiable"! It was never like this before. I pre-ordered a bunch of CDs (new Art Ensemble, Joe Henderson reissue, Don Byron, and Miles set) and all of them come out on different days, so I've gotta pay shipping for each item! Does anyone know why they did this? Before, they would hold your pre-ordered item and ship it once everything was availiable. This sucks.

Now that you have your order placed have you tried going in and making changes through Order Status?

I only have the 7 Steps preordered so I don't have any options under "click here for cancellation and other options." But I'd hope there'd be some way to fix the problem you have under there.

Without the ship together feature our local economy will get a bigger boost me thinks.

Happened to me on my last order with "One Flight Up". They shipped one thing then socked me with a second ship charge, told me it was my fault for not reading the fine print. I then cancelled all others and told them to go pound.

so... try this with them as i got the code from biatching about a bulk porn mailing they did a couple months back. for $10 bux off. not sure if was just specific to me in the code though?

Now that you have your order placed have you tried going in and making changes through Order Status?

It doesn't work. Its the same thing as when I ordered. It only gives the "Ship when Availiable". I wrote a complaint e-mail to CD Universe last night. I'll post the response when I get one.

They've been doing this for awhile.. the reason is obvious but it does in some cases out weigh the price advantages the used to have.

Also I buy a lot of Classics through them. Their pr-order prices were pretty good, but lately I have been getting a lot of backorder messages and then cancellations about the Classics, when the local store has them in the racks, often a month before CDU, even lists them.

I used CDU a lot, but because of these problems I am investigating other sources too.

he "Ship Together" option is not available for orders that contain a mix of available items and pre-orders whose release dates are more than 10 business days from the date the order is placed. These orders should be split into separate orders or shipped as they become available.

So the only possibility is to wait with the order until the dates match for the "ship together" option. The pre-order price is usually avalable until the release date.

This is the response I got from CD Universe. This had never happened before...I guess it was just coincidence that all my preorders had release dates which were close to each other.

I'm glad....I was thinking I was going to have to stop shopping there.
