Z-Man Posted March 3, 2005 Report Posted March 3, 2005 In town for one night Thursday, hoping to catch some music. Any recommendations? I'm staying in Copley Square. Quote

robviti Posted March 3, 2005 Report Posted March 3, 2005 it looks like "slim pickens" for jazz in beantown tonight. since you're in copley square, you might check out the oak room, a restaurant in the fairmont copley plaza hotel that features local jazz. right down the street is another upscale restaurant called the top of the hub that features jazz nightly. it's located at 800 boylston street on the 52nd floor of the prudential tower. or you could take a short taxi ride to bob the chef's jazz cafe on 604 columbus ave. robviti Posted March 3, 2005 Report Posted March 3, 2005 hmm. i missed the defrancesco listing (which would probably be my choice). Quote
Tom in RI Posted March 3, 2005 Report Posted March 3, 2005 Too bad its not Friday night when Mattias Lupri will be at the Gardner Museum with Donny McCaslin featured. Quote
.:.impossible Posted March 4, 2005 Report Posted March 4, 2005 Yeah Tom. I'm thinking about hitting that up. The only Donny McCaslin I've heard is on that Ken Schaphorst disc. Sounds good to me, and depending on how processed Matthias' vibes are, I'm definitely a fan. Quote
Z-Man Posted March 4, 2005 Author Report Posted March 4, 2005 Thanks for the tips, all. I would have loved to catch the DeFrancesco gig, but since it starts in 10 minutes I doubt I'll make it. Time to finish up some work and walk over to Top of the Hub... Quote
