American and European Jazz.

In the short time I have been involved with this board, I have learnt a great deal about American jazz. and come across American musicians that I had not listened to before. I have always been interested in European Jazz, in particular jazz from Scandanavia.

Anyway I was wondering about the differences and the similarities between American Jazz and European Jazz?

Any thoughts?

That is not to exclude Jazz from other parts of the World, as I live in Europe I am just interested?

For me one of the differences is the folk tradition in Europe, which has had a significant impact of European Jazz.
