Soul Stream Posted March 17, 2005 Posted March 17, 2005 (edited) I'd love to hear a rundown of the show if anybody has a chance to make it. Wish I could be there. Also, Lonnie's student Akiko Tsuruga (along w/Fukushi Tainaka and Eric Johnson) is playing the afterhours set after Lonnie every night. Love to hear her as well, she plays piano w/Grady Tate and is roomates w/Lonnie to boot, so she's GOT to be smokin' on the hammond! Hope someone catches it. Edited March 17, 2005 by Soul Stream Quote

I thought the name of the club rang a bell. Unfortunately, my schedule is as busy as DR.LLS's for the next five days. Quote
Soul Stream Posted March 17, 2005 Author Posted March 17, 2005 Damn! come 7/4, you know you can slip on by for a doctor's visit! Sorry about the name confusion, but I REFUSE to call that place Dizzy's ClubCoca-Cola . That's friggin' sacrilidge, I'm so goddamn sick of corporate sponsorship. Quote

Soul Stream Posted March 17, 2005 Author Posted March 17, 2005 Ah, but what about the non-turban occassions? Quote
Peter Johnson Posted March 17, 2005 Posted March 17, 2005 Damn-it...FOUR days before I'm next east... Quote
Randy Twizzle Posted March 17, 2005 Posted March 17, 2005 I was once browsing in the jazz section of the Upper West Side NYC Tower Records when I looked up and saw Dr Lonnie Smith in the next aisle. Not a big deal, but 2 days before I had purchased a used copy of one of his CDs, and it was a nice coincidence to see him in the flesh. [End of anecdote] Quote
