Alfred Posted June 1, 2005 Report Posted June 1, 2005 This artistShare release is pure ... magic. It can't be found in any store, must be ordered via artistShare.com. The price for this CD (and s&h to Europe!) is a bit high but nothing more can be said against this CD. This live session was recorded at the Village Vanguard. Hall played in a trio format together with Scott Colley and Lewis Nash. It's a very relaxed session, superb soloing and the sound quality is excellent. Quote
sal Posted June 1, 2005 Report Posted June 1, 2005 I've been podering this one, and now I think I'll take the plunge. Thanks Alfred. Quote
jlhoots Posted June 1, 2005 Report Posted June 1, 2005 I bought it also & believe it's excellent. Quote
GA Russell Posted June 1, 2005 Report Posted June 1, 2005 The last couple of Jim Hall's that I've bought have been a little too dry for me. Is this one along that vein, or a little more mainstream? Quote

I agree with you in that his last CD's are a bit "boring". This one is great! Quote
GA Russell Posted June 2, 2005 Report Posted June 2, 2005 Thanks Alfred. I've been looking forward to trying an ArtistShare work. Quote
robviti Posted June 2, 2005 Report Posted June 2, 2005 alfred, can you tell me if hall uses any electronic attachments/gimmicks (i.e, phase shifter/flanger, distortion, etc.) on this date, as he has been prone to do in recent years? thanks. Quote

kenny weir Posted June 4, 2005 Report Posted June 4, 2005 I bought this, and just don't get it. It's got to be one of the most bloodless records I've heard. Quote
