tonym Posted June 15, 2005 Report Posted June 15, 2005 I'm making some progress with the CDex that was recommended a while back with regard to the Copy Protected European Blue Notes; I've managed to install that and the LAME function (which I believe is necessary too) and I'm now at the stage were upon inserting the disc (CD) it is reading from the CDDB to get track/album info etc., BUT it's telling me that I'm not selecting tracks for ripping. I've followed this page to the letter, but it's that final stage which is stopping me progress. If I click on the 3rd icon down (on the left hand toolbar) nothing happens, if I click on the one above (Extract CD tracks to Compreesed Audio File(s)), that's when it tells me I haven't selected any tracks. I'm highlighting 'all tracks' to rip but is there something I'm missing here? If you can help I'd greatly appreciate it, my collection of CP BNs and other new rock albums is growing and I can't get them on t'iPod Thanks in anticipation Quote
couw Posted June 15, 2005 Report Posted June 15, 2005 (edited) The CDex board discusses issues of this kind with copy protected disks. The advice is to NOT install anything the disks want to install. If you have already done so, you will need to find what it put where and uninstall it all. Opening the disk in your file manager will give you an uninstaller, I hope it delivers what it promises. Then there is some talk of selecting another Ripping Method: CDex > Settings > CD Drive > Ripping Method and set it to something else. Edited June 15, 2005 by couw Quote
Claude Posted June 15, 2005 Report Posted June 15, 2005 (edited) Hi Tony, In my limited experience with copyprotected BN CDs, the success in copying them highly depends on the hardware. My CD-R drive ignored the copyprotection completely, but my DVD drive could not access the CD audio data. Edited June 15, 2005 by Claude Quote

Thanks for responding fellas edited for NOT a CD-R drive sorry.... Edited June 15, 2005 by tonym Quote
couw Posted June 15, 2005 Report Posted June 15, 2005 so, does it work in the other drive then? Quote
tonym Posted June 15, 2005 Author Report Posted June 15, 2005 On the above screen, when configuring, the labelled window '2' should be unchecked if you use Windows XP, which I do. BUT if I uncheck it it tells me on a pop up that the driver wnaspi32.dll failed to load. If I continue with it unchecked then It doesn't recognise ANY disc I put in the drive I did uninstall the default player that the CP wants you to run bTW. If the above driver failed to upload, should I go about it all again? Quote
couw Posted June 15, 2005 Report Posted June 15, 2005 oy, it seems you get all the fun here... try a search for wnaspi32.dll at the CDex board for some solutions (hopefully). this is a problem that might be related to XP Service Pack 2 Quote

tonym Posted June 15, 2005 Author Report Posted June 15, 2005 Right, now I've downloaded that driver from Nero, ran the program again with the above box unchecked and the DC is recognised but it's still telling me I haven't selected any tracks for ripping Quote
couw Posted June 15, 2005 Report Posted June 15, 2005 going with Claude this is likely a hardware problem then. Can't help much more, maybe check the CDex forum for some advice. Quote
