Also, how long do the average pair of phones last?

It seems like they die from after several months to 2 yrs no matter how well you take care of them or what quality/price range they are. Sonys and Pioneers have the best sound for mid-range headphones, but are the absolute worse in terms of shelf life despite their name.

I'm really getting tired of replacing my shit so often. How do you folks preserve the longevity of your soundcups? Thanx in advance.
