Anybody have a recommendation for a good one? I've always been interested in him; thinking about watching the movie Our Town tonight, and have finally gotten the bug to read a bio.

There's a fairly thorough autobiography in two volumes, "Copland 1900-1943" and "Copland Since 1943," co-written with Vivian Perlis. Maybe not as candid as it could have been, but America doesn't exactly encourage gay men to be open about their lives.

Yeah, I saw that in our local public library. Looks like I might start there... thanks!

I hate being a didactic jerk, but it's Copland (no "e").

Never cared much for his stuff, BTW, though a live performance of his music that I heard last year made me reconsider.

I'm not aware of any worthwhile bios.
