ghost of miles Posted July 4, 2005 Report Posted July 4, 2005 (edited) Anybody have a recommendation for a good one? I've always been interested in him; thinking about watching the movie Our Town tonight, and have finally gotten the bug to read a bio. Edited July 10, 2005 by ghost of miles Quote
Spontooneous Posted July 9, 2005 Report Posted July 9, 2005 There's a fairly thorough autobiography in two volumes, "Copland 1900-1943" and "Copland Since 1943," co-written with Vivian Perlis. Maybe not as candid as it could have been, but America doesn't exactly encourage gay men to be open about their lives. Quote

Looks like I might start there... thanks! Quote
Kalo Posted July 10, 2005 Report Posted July 10, 2005 I hate being a didactic jerk, but it's Copland (no "e"). Never cared much for his stuff, BTW, though a live performance of his music that I heard last year made me reconsider. I'm not aware of any worthwhile bios. Quote
