Everybody seems to mention audacity.com as a free program capable of doing this.

I've been unable to muster the brain power and time necessary to download it and learn how to use it.

I have copy but never got around to learning how to use it. I just tried again and it uses the Microsoft sound mapper. I can't find that on Win XP. I'll try again later when I have more time.
