I caught a show of him on either Sound and Style or Impressions from BET, not knowing who he was. There was an organist, guitarist, and drummer, and of course him on the tenor. They played a funk tune, and it was groovin, then they swung some more. I looked him up and saw his albums at Borders. I guess I like him. Haven't bought any albums though.

Any fans?

Sorry, but I find Javon Jackson's solos riddled with cliche's.

I'm not a huge fan of Javon. Really buy the CDs for Lonnie's presence. Javon seems like a good, functional tenor in the soul jazz tradition. He doesn't seem to be trying to be the latest Coltrane or anything. I'm not a big stickler for people having to push the envelope or avoid history to garner my admiration. Expressing oneself can be vastly overrated. :g

Knowing the language is one thing; being "a repeater pencil" is another.

Sorry Javon.

I hear he's a nice guy, though.

I'd rather listen to Houston Person.

And: The Turbanator can carry anyone.
