Guest Posted November 22, 2005 Report Posted November 22, 2005 Hello Jazz friends! This is my first post in this forum and I thought I'd give it a try I'm looking for the title of a jazz photography book that I saw some examples in a magazine from an airline trip to France. I just completely forgot the title and photographer. Apparently this was a famous jazz jazz book by the same photographer. It was not the usual bandstand photos but more unusual settings. Here is what I remember: 1. A great photo of my hero Donald Byrd playing trumpet in a subway car in NY. 2. A picture from Newport jazz festival. Some drummer is playing (solo) in the background. Some people are dancing (?) in the foreground. OK that´s it! I would be ever so grateful for some help. I am hooked up on amazon and eBay so they could be buying options (or private paypal)for that matter. But first I need to know what that darn book is ;-) /Shaft Quote
couw Posted November 22, 2005 Report Posted November 22, 2005 that'd be William Claxton. there are several books collecting his work published by Taschen, most recently a very hefty (but also expensive) tome titled Jazz Life, discussed in this thread Quote

Guest Posted December 5, 2005 Report Posted December 5, 2005 Hello friends! Well I got it finally from Amazon UK. £70+£5 shipping makes it a pretty good deal I think! Anyway I have just skimmed it through since it will be my birthday present to myself in january It looks wonderful to say the least Have not heard the CD. The only potential problem is where to put this giant "thing". Book shelf - na don't think so.....coffe table - where shall I put my coffe?? Anyway I do not think anyone could go wrong with this book. /Shaft Quote
